I seem to recall noticing quite an improvement when I first upgraded mine, but I'm not an audiophile. Sound quality is at least 'As Good As' the 7000 units, with bonus of all the extra features. I read somwhere that the 9000 used to be fitted into Jag's, not sure how true though.

Matt the clarity of the 9000 is sooooo much better than the 7000. You know how much difference there is between a 5000 & a 7000 . It's as much as that again. Had a 9000 in my 2.0ltr, but sold it with the car as the info was way out of date ( plus the fact i didnt really know how to use it )

So, does the existing CD autochanger and steering control stalk hook up as well?

Yes stalk works fine with 9000 and if you get the extra iPod thingy the steering stalk will even control the ipod. Only think you can't do is have both ipod & CD changer connected together as they use the same socket - its one or the other.

Will a little mod you can have both of them connected or even more... Though obviously you won't be able to have them all running at once ;P Pop into any car audio store and they will help you out, if not contact me in a few days, as I'm going away for a while, and I'll tell you what to get and do.

Why would you need a CD changer ifthe IPOD is connected and working through the stalk? Copy the cd's into itunes!!

Actually, it would be nice to have both connected as their is quite a big difference in quality between a CD and a compressed mp3 on an iPod. Be nice to have my top six original albums back in the CD changer. What do we need then firebug?
