Don't recall that the VNR was a Scorpio option moonchalk; sat nav was never an option on a new Scorpio although a lot of members have fitted them in the past!. I tried one in mine a while back but opted for the Travelpilot used in the Focus. There have been members who have fitted the full double DIN unit from a Ford Galaxy which uses the Blaupunkt disks but that requires a bit of chopping to make the 1.8 DIN hole in the Scorpio take the bigger unit out of the Galaxy

Oh, my mistake. Anyway, many have been retrofitted into Scorps. Out of interest, is the Blaupunkt unit bigger in height, width or depth?

No, the Ford Travelpilot is the same size (1.8 DIN) as the Scorpio radio but it does require a bit of fiddly stuff to make it work.... particularly with the CD changer!

I meant how difficult is it to fit the Galaxy one in a Scorp? What exactly has to be cut?

OK, The galaxy unit is a little larger than the Scorpio aperture so in order to fit one, you first need to remove the plastic dash surround so that you can see the radio mount which is a solid metal box and is too small for the galaxy unit. The box needs to be chopped and altered enough to take the bigger unit but still needs to maintain a large degree of solidity because the Galaxy unit is also a lot heavier too. Once the metal work has been cut and altered to fit, the main dash plastic needs to be altered to take the higher unit. Usually you can get away with just trimming the top and bottom lips off the radio aperture. The advantage of the Galaxy unit is that it should be compatible with the CD changer and steering controls (you may need a newer RIM) and it takes the Blaupunkt navigation disks which are pretty cheap and plentiful on EBay. When installed it should look like this....

Is that a touch screen CD autochanger? Does it have any real advantages over the 7000 series unit, apart from the navigation device, as I have several TomTom's. It just looks a nicer more modern unit for the car.

No it isn't touch screen but does look a lot nicer than having a tomtom plastered in your windscreen. The one downside is keeping the disks updated each year as these cost about £100.00. Mind you, a lot cheaper than the £237.00 for the S Class DVD disk!!
