Hi . I think the HBC unit could be faulty as the heater will not switch off. If I turn the switch to off it will start slow and then go like the clappers, if I select auto it just stays slow? Do you still have the small panel with the heater and aircon switchs. My Scorpio is a 1997 model 24 valve estate. If you have one or both items in working order let me know. Dave

Dave Whilst I wouldn't rule out the control panel, from what you posted elsewhere I think it quite likely you need the part behind the dash that it plugs into via the ribbon cable. No 11 at the top of the page here: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccreset.htm

Dave " HI DAVE sorry this one has the same fault but when I removed the radio I found as Tompion says the ribbon was hanging out the connector. I pushed it back in and it worked but since have pulled it out again , a bit of super glue to hold in place might save you a few quid. cheers moo

Hi maddy-moo Thank you for the advice regarding the heater fan. I shall remove the radio and check it out. Dave

I can't get at mine through the radio aperture. I think he must mean when he took the control panel off, only that end of the ribbon has a connector. It's the same size as a computer floppy drive cable & is supposed to latch at each side but the latches may be broken.
