Remote Key Fobs

Hi Everyone,
As we all know, the main fault with the Scorpio key fob is that the buttons stop working. I have successfully repaired a few fobs now using miniature surface mount type switches and can now offer a repair service to members.

If you have a faulty fob and want it repaired it will cost you a £10 donation to the club and a couple of 1st class stamp for me to send it back to you.
If the remote is not  repairable I will send back the faulty pcb but keep the rubber membrane and case for use repairing other fobs.

If anyone requires a fob I can supply one for a £20 donation to the club. I have 3 currently available (thanks to Glyn!) and a couple more in the pipeline waiting for upgrading.
The fob will have  been upgraded to 3 new miniature switches and have new batteries installed.
Each fob will be tested for RF transmission and that it actually works on my  Scorpio. I will guarantee the switches for life. Any switches that fail I  will replace free of charge.

The fob condition will be what it is. I will be using the existing case and rubber membrane. The membranes in particular are widely variable in their condition but I will supply the best I can. I intend to look into doing something about the membranes to try to improve them, either getting some made up or using alternatives.

If anybody has an old fob or 2 stashed away, believed to be faulty or just simply surplus to requirements please send me any you can spare. I will check that it is beyond repair and keep any good parts such as the membranes.

I will provide this service on a best efforts basis, first come first served so if I get snowed under please expect a delay. Also, it is supplied with no guarantee, except for the switches.

Please email me or pm me for further details.

Thanks,
Graham

Might take me a while to find, but would you like some old 'not-working' fobs?   Free of course!   PM or put your addy up and I'll try and find them and send them.

Graham.   Just in case you don't know.   I use a Mustang key-fob for mine.  (I can't be bothered faffing around with a picture for this site)   It looks exactly like the Scorpio key-fob except where the 'boot-button' is there is an orange 'panic' button!   It came from a late 90's Mustang from the USA, on Ebay.   This fob has actual buttons to press rather than rubber-bits.   I took it as an experiment, and it worked perfectly first-time.   Best thing was, I got it for $3 plus postage of $6.   I see them from time to time on Ebay.com.   Ford Mustang key-fob.

Just checked, there's none on the go at the moment, but they go very cheap when they are.   There's a couple of the four-button ones of the same era, for Lincoln town-cars in the 90's.

PJD/Graham. This is a first!. All sorts have been tried in the past and none have worked due their non compatability with the Scorpios 'rolling' programme? Smiley

I looked at that link, couldn't find one the same as my Mustang one.   Mine is the same size as the Scorpio, but slimmer, and if I remember, the batteries sit side-by-side?   Also the mustang one has plastic-buttons that push onto a thingy inside, (feels like spring-loaded but it's not) I don't like taking it apart because it's very fiddly to get the small buttons back into place.   Next time I need to change the batteries I'll take pics.

Nope, that aint the one.   Mine has a three-button face.   I can't link a pic but, if you look on ebay at item.....320879527513.   You'll see a Three button one like mine.   Note, it's brand-new at £5!   For some reason these type of things aren't valuable at all in the USA.   This seller doesn't do UK postage, but most of the USA sellers can be persuaded.

Mine is similar to this but instead of the rubber-looking 'Lock/Unlock' buttons, mine are square plastic the same as the red-button.   And mine has 'Panic' written on the red button instead or a siren picture.

That's close.   But mine has plastic buttons in place of those rubbery looking ones, and they're square as well I think.   I'll try and take a pic, and post it email to one of you!
