Notts isn't that far up from you.... I did Newcastle to Surrey to get my car, by train on cattle class 
I would do a max of 370/400 miles maybe (outgoing) for a part I need.. still that's me.. in the scorp it's a breeze.
Did the Weston meet last year that was 800 miles round trip.
It's actually a very small Island when you start to drive around it, my younger bro travels from here (Newcastle) to points in germany and gets back in two days....
It's really a small world......
