Temp Sender required!

'96 24v We are looking at the thermostat housing I think: When I remove that wire we see.... ...a rather limp looking temperature sender. Broken. I've been to Ford and there's a lot of confusion. Apparently the Thermostat housing was changed and this part (FINIS 7334637) was changed with it, and not only did they stop making the old sender but they gave the newer two pin sender the same part number! It's worrying if they actually don't make this part for my car anymore. Does anyone have any contacts, any ideas, any temp senders? Note: the thing just sends information to the dashboard instrumentation. Cheers all, Dave

Dave, when I changed mine, I just went to the local motor factors and asked for a sender for the Scorpio that has a single contact. It works fine!! Ford often confuse the issue!! Got mine about 12 weeks ago by the way and cost £2.50 or so I think! Baz

! Good man Baz! I'll take it out and try to do the same tomorrow. Ford often confuse the issue... heh heh, putting it lightly! Boy, they are quite adept at completely ruining all sense. Sometimes I come out of a FMDship having forgotten the english language. I asked a Ford guy to print out a page from his catalogue and he had issues.. ended in me leaning across to press buttons and then directing him what to do. Modern technology. Right. Thanks. I'll see what happens tomorrow! D

Dave, FYI the thermostat is located in between the aircon compressor and the engine block and looks like this:

Dave, Like Baz I got one for my 2ltr easily from a local factor. they had two listed but if you go along with the old one ,as you say ,there should be no problem. Good luck.

Thanks, Baz, i've never been good with names of mechanical digeridoos! Thanks also, Simmo! Oui, I managed to get one from Motrax... Turns out they appeared in most of the granada engines. It works. Horah! I shall remember to dig a little deeper next time before starting huge threads on here! Thanks both! Dave
