Pair of 16inch, 12-spoke alloys wanted

Hello. I need a pair in good condition for my 24v estate that are not buckled or warped. Two on my car, although they look good, have seen potholes sometime in their (short) life and are buckled slightly on the inner rims, and it's making it difficult to bring them in balance - not to mention tyre wear. Can't afford to pay a lot as this car has cost me a fortune already and the buckling is not terrible, just annoying. I live in Staffordshire. Thanks. Roger.

hi there why not get them refur'd? normally cost about £40 a wheel. my 2 front ones are the same, so i need to get it done one of these days. re tyre wear. i don't have any problem with the buckled wheels. make sure it isn't the wishbone balljoints. these will cause weird tyre wear.

Hello scorpio_man, I have just had the tracking, steering geometry, etc., checked. The tracking needed a slight adjustment. There is still just the faint hint of front wheel wobble at around 75mph even after careful wheel balance. The garage considers that it can now only be due to the shape of the two front wheels. They have now put the best tyre/wheel combination on the front, so I look forward to seeing what difference it has made. In the meantime, I decided I would try to obtain a couple of unbuckled replacement wheels, as probably, in the long run, this being cheaper that having to replace the tyres due to the additional wear. Interesting, then, that you consider a wheel running out of true does not necessarily cause uneven tyre, which was my biggest concern. Many thanks. Roger.

hi roger it depends on how bad they are. mine has a 'flat' on the inside rim. i was forced off the road and over a small kirb, with the brakes on hard. someone tried the craziest u turn from a side street you'd ever see! still could have been worse!

Hello scorpio_man, With mine, we could see the rise and fall of the tyres as they were being rotated slowly on the wheel balancing machine. It wasn't drastic, but quite noticable. Roger.
