Yes, they were your rails, I didn't fit them (I am not able) but my brother-in-law did. He's a qualified mechanic and he's managed everything else OK but it would be interesting to hear what would be determined as an 'incorrect' fitting? He said he used the regulator out of my old rails, so I'm not sure if that's OK or not. Problem is that there is a very strong smell of petrol when you drive the car (hardly anything at idle although idle is a little rough). I only drove it around his close then put it straight back on the drive not wanting to risk a fire. We can't see any fuel leaks anywhere.

O.K DJ just seen your post about this & came back here to amend but I see you beat me to it You think it maybe that then? Well refitting it you should make sure the hole & the reg bit are clean, also clean it up a bit with a scouring pad or similiar if the alloy has corroded a bit, make sure the rubber is good (you should replace really) & smear it with a small amount of vasaline (petrolem based). Push it in square & tighten bolts. If you don't use the lube mate sometimes the rubber rides up a bit & don't seal 100% with reused regs. Is it damp on the join then?

Sorry DJ only seen your PM today due to no site for a while. Best if you get new O rings mate as the old ones start to break up with age. I will post a pic later & find out the sizes for you, you should get them from almost any car auto place. Do check if it's that causing the leak first as it might not be. Also did you try & start it without the reg & then realized, if so alot of petrol will have been dumped around the engine bay, it will need some time to stop stinking your car out? But most important check for leaks?
