I tried to fit one to mine but because it is an S reg 1998 one it has to be "type approved" only one company bothered to type approve the scorpio bar because they were an obsolete car by Aug 1998 and very few were registered after that date. I have been quoted 300 quid plus! I had a couple from scrappies which were OK but not technically legal!

so whats it attached to then Barrie if you didnt need to remove bumper?  Mine fixed to bumper valance (after removing bumper), holes drilled an all! And also Diff mount bolts.

The Diff on my car isnt like the pic on the Towbar instructions nor like the guide shows on the main site.  Its in like a spider mount thing.  Bit weird to describe but thers no access to the bolts basically.

Andy, mine fits over the diff and at the back and it has a bracket that fits on the outside of the spare wheel well. It can be drilled from the inside without removing the rear bumper.

Highlander,Correct me if I am wrong but I think the only difference is the diff brackets, one is larger the estate I think. The estate one will both but the saloon wont fit the estate

I decided to go for his type after making the mistake of not getting the bumper bracket for the witter one that I bought second hand.

It had the relevant safety stamp of approval and was much easier to fit.

I think the general gist of what folk are saying + in my experience too, its best to purchase one from ur nearest motorfactor or Ebay as by the time postage and replacament bolts/washers/nuts etc have been obtained, a new one may as well be used.

And if a 2nd had one doesnt fit for whatever reason you have no comeback.  Whereas a new one at least can be looked at first.
