They may well be still available through Fordparts UK but expect to pay a lot of money. Chroming some silver ones may be the answer as the original ones did suffer from flaking quite a lot Baz

unfortunately the chrome wheels are long discontinued from Ford. Fordparts do not carry them either. I have not found anyone in Britian!! who are competant enough to remove the original chrome and then re chrome the wheels without damaging the wheel. Halfords Ripspeed X advertise £60 to chrome a wheel, so I lobbed an old 1 on the counter and said get cracking, the spotty oink replied they couldn't guarantee the finish and the wheel wasn't suitable for everyday use, show use only. shesh !! Yet in America, I can get all 4 done and easy as getting normal alloys painted silver. Have we NO decent trades in this god foresaken country any more!!

on Mar 14th, 2006, 7:38am, Snoopy wrote: very true, this company http://www.lap-tab.co.uk/alloywheels.php they quote all manner of prices but as soon as they saw my Ford chrome wheel, they changed the quote to £400 +vat each. Apparently, the problem is the old purple coating underneath is hard to come off and replate. Also had a tip off that this co originally made the wheels for Ford http://www.ronalusa.com/index.html In choosing an aftermarket wheel, one should, in my opinion, --value QUALITY--as a criteria in making this decision. Ronal's quality is its claim to fame. That is why most of the car manufacturers rely on Ronal to manufacture their wheels, from MBZ, BMW, Porsche, AUDI, VW, SAAB, Rolls Royce, GM, FORD, Honda, Nissan, TOYOTA, etc. to name a few. Even the hi-end European Tuning Companies, like Lorinser, Brabus, Alpina, AC Schnitzer, Hartge, Irmscher, Oettinger, etc. depend on the quality manufacturing of RONAL to produce their wheels. These wheels all bear the "Ronal" stamp in the back of the wheel. now they quote $115 to paint and extra $115 to chrome to mirror like finish, getting your wheels there and back are another matter though! hth simon
