I'm after the "rear" undershield (which protects the Sump/Cats & Oil Filter) - also need the (4) fixing screws.

Hi 'Scorpius' / Ian I'm not sure about that - perhaps some other member who might read this topic and is familiar with both variants, could enlighten us Keith

Hi scorpio_man Thanks for your input - It's definitely the "rear" shield I'm after (I already have the "front" shield). When I first bought my Cozzie as a 2 yr old in 1998 - it HAD a rear shield, because I had to remove it to do the first oil change that I carried out myself (previously done by local garages). In July 2004, I took the car to 'Longlife' in Carshalton - they fitted a Stainless Steel exhaust system and replaced the Cats for me (and did a very good job). About 3 months later, I carried out another oil change and I was already unscrewing the Oil Filter when I suddenly realised that something was missing - the rear undershield!! Now I'd had no prangs or bashed any large rocks, and undershields don't normally "drop off" during driving, so my first thought was that 'Longlife' had forgotten to replace it (They would have had to take it off to fit the Cats & new exhaust system) - I phoned them up (I live in Hampshire) and they swore blind that a rear shield was NOT fitted when they started the job - I couldn't prove anything, so I let the matter drop. I phoned Ford and they quoted a ridiculous price (approx £100) for a new shield so , being retired, I didn't bother; however, I'm just about to carry out another oil change - I only do about 3k miles/year now, so it only happens once a year (and I always use fully synthetic) - I've had the car just over 8 years now and I can honestly say it's the best car I've ever driven (better than my Capri 2.8l of years ago!) - However, I want to keep it going as long as possible and a hole in the Sump or Gearbox would cost 2 or 3 times the car's value to repair - hence my hunt for a (preferably reasonably priced!) rear undershield. Congratulations to anyone who had the stamina to read all of this!! Cheers Keith
