Not sure whether the 2.3 & cossie use the same water pump (if someone could confirm this), but FAI auto parts make a pattern pump for about £45.00....I bought one for my 2.3 last year  Smiley

One of the problems with the Cosworth engines. They were only used on the Scorpio and not really mass produced enough for any motor factors to produce pattern parts.... no demand I guess!

Same problem applies to thermostat as well as the water pump!

Just thought I'd mention it - there is a company called Burton Power who make tuning parts and racing engines - in this weeks Classis Car Weekly there is a bit on electric water pumps. Not a cheap solution though. Could this be used on the Cossie 24V ?

I've seen a few electric pump conversions for V8 engines and usually you have to have a new manifold fabricated that fits in place of the original water pump housing, then the new electric pump will fit onto the new manifold.

I've not seen an electric pump mod that fits right in place of the original unit though.

But like you say, very expensive and really only suited to race applications or those with deep pockets Wink

Ford quoted me £120 + VAT this morning for a direct replacement.

(see my extra comments in the problems section as I also spoke to Bill Field this morning who is not convinced it's a water pump problem).
