Can anyone one please help with a 1996 Cosworth 24v radiator? Possible collection if reasonable distance from Southampton or willing to pay carriage costs. thanks Colin.

Colin, as has been said on here many times; you can use a rad off a 2.3 and change the expansion bottle. I have a Cossie which is running a 2.3 rad and it has been fine for months now. (My other silver facelift, not S2.9!!)

Boatman. Are you aware of the great Cosworth bloated radiator syndrome, supposedly caused by a faulty well hidden thermostat ? GOZZ.

Appreciate your replies chaps! Baz-certainly wasn't aware of the 2.3 rad being a possibility as you stated-thanks.Had seen the ebay ad.but it appears to be for a manual .-not auto (which I had ommited to say). Was aware of the dreaded 'ballooning syndrome'-but just appears to be the minimal of leak from the core-(at the moment). Colin.

From what I can see, the only difference between the 24v and the 2.3 rads is that there is the extra pipe missing off the 2.3 rad (the thin plastic one at the top) All that has been done on my other 24v is a bolt has been put in the end of the third pipe from the expansion bottle. Changing the expansion bottle would just do away with the need for that pipe altogether. I have suffered more than most when it comes to radiators; having had at least 5 in my old S reg and now onto the 4th with s".9 and needing another now as the one that is on has ballooned. Luckily I have got a spare 24v one but if not a 2.3 would have gone one. Especially as a new Ford one for the 24v is over £400.00!! Good Luck Baz

I bit the bullet last time & managed to find an OE radiator (valeo) from a factor, still best part of 300 though, but lasted.

Can probably get a 2.3 rad s/h from a local guy I'm in contact with and could post it to you. Let me know if interested.

After much deliberation-I've decided to get my existing rad.reblocked localy and after reading the advice of this forum-renew the thermostat at the same time, hoping this will be a longer term cure.Gozz's comment about the dreaded 'ballooning' syndrome was to be the guilty verdict on inspection. The two lower tubes were visibly distorted and 12 yrs of use was rotting the surrounding lower rows of fins. The rest of the rad. looked as if it would survive another 10 years-virtually perfect, but then it is snugly protected by the air con.condenser. £168 plus vat was the best price offered which was less than I thought it was going to be.If it helps anyone-www.radiatorsonline.co.uk seems to list all the Scorpio range and give prices! My thanks to all who responded with their advice and offers of help. Colin.
