Just changed my sparkplugs and guess what ?
The insulation on the wires under the sparkplug cover is not looking too good  Angry
Have put some insulating tape round them for now but wouldn't mind getting hold of either a decent spare one or even a bad one to repair.

Anyone got one spare ?

Cheers for that John.
Good to see that they are still available but at £126 + VAT I think I have more important things to spend it on !
It really is just the last part of the loom which goes under the top cover which is bad - and then just the last 3 or 4 inches or so where the insulation is not protected by any shielding which is breaking up. Insulation tape will take care of it for now but I think maybe some silicone insulated wire will be used for a lasting repair - good heat resistance.

Anyone got a duff loom ?
I really only need the last foot or so for the 2 connectors which go on to the EDIS units.

Maybe the same connectors are used on other cars that are fitted in places that don't melt, if you only need to repair the loom you have.

Maybe it's one of these:

Chris, I'm afraid although they look the same they do not fit. Some time ago I sent a unit to the firm and they were most helpful BUT confirmed that they have none compatible for our cars.  They have a great range of products and members have used the company but in most cases, including my own, it was a case of retaining just enough of the wiring to the connector to make a joint and using heat shrink. Anyone ?

Even just the 2 plugs to the coil packs will do.

Mike.
A sound taping job will most probably outlast the car  Cool You just need to prevent cross connection and shorting.Take the little loom off and tape each wire individually, then bind em all together.

Mike. Greg and I did mine so if it helps give me a shout and I'll pop up and show you the result. We managed to re-use all the old connectors which is the main problem. Mike. Smiley

Simmo, I may well take up your kind offer  Wink

Situation is that I need to use the car on a daily basis - the loom is currently working but the insulation looks a bit iffy so I'm reluctant to start playing with it in case I make things worse  Shocked
The idea of getting a spare loom or connectors to make up a repaired loom is mainly for my own peace of mind.
