Don't think Ford ever made a 4x4 auto box for the 4x4 Sierra or 4x4 Granada although I think another company did do some conversions Huh

I have a spare Type 9 4x4 gearbox ( manual ) from a 4x4 Sierra - don't know the condition though - came with a s/h engine I bought.

And Ford also definitely made some 4x4 Sierra Autos, same transfer as T9 manual, but slightly different casting to bolt to the back of the Auto.

I know about the Explorer one's I've got one but don't want one of them its too big and heavy and I don't need high and low range Wink

My old business partner re built one a few years back, and I saw a complete car on fleabay a while back.

And I still want one lol !!

if you find a 4x4 auto box from a siera it wont be full electronecic controle so no flappey paddels.you will have to use the scorpio 2.0-2.3-24v box but not the 12v and fit the 4x4 bit on the back.my db12 hase a flappey paddel gearbox and is from the 70ts so ther not new.

I know that, the auto box I'm using is a frankenstein 24V 4R44E that I built 4000 miles ago using 4.0 Explorer guts with modified wiring and ECU tranny program for 5 gears plus lockup and tiptronic function.

This transmission worked fine for 4000 miles in my Cossie Estate, before I decided to break it and use most of the running gear to build a 4X4 Puma rally car Smiley

I just need the back end (transfer unit) and possibly have to strip mine and fit a shorter mainshaft.

BTW I am an Auto Gearbox specialst.

Regards
Dave
