Estate rear shock absorber.

As most will know the bottom bush on the estate self levelling shock absorber is an integral part of the unit and there is no available replacement. Thus if it fails the only answer is to replace the whole unit. Current price is.....£275 per side!!!!. Does anyone have an old unit available as it is hoped that a firm called Polybush may be able to supply a bush BUT the critical thing is the precise size of the bush and the bore of the 'bar' which goes through the centre. Clearly with a unit off the car this should not be too difficult to obtain or it may even be possible to persuade the company to inspect a shock absorber and come up with a suitable bush. Any help would be appreciated and could well save yet more cars being scrapped on economic grounds. Thank you.

I find that hard to believe!!!!.......Mike, I'll be in touch and perhaps we can arrange to meet up. Ideally I'd like to persuade the guy to let me send him a duff unit so that we can be sure of getting the right result if it's possible. Thanks, Mike.

Simmo, they really are helpful, for 100 pairs they would do series production, not much and they talked economically feasible after this figure. But as you pretty much summarized they still need the dimensions, they might even have suitable ones off the shelf.
