24v Radiator (pre-facelift)

Good morning. Had a sudden loss of water yesterday in High Wycombe. I thought it was just a radiator hose coming off but on looking carefully the hose had a bit of the radiator still attached to it. The AA man and the garage both say it needs a new radiator. Been quoted £400+ just for a new radiator. Anyone on the board got one? Would a facelift 24v radiator fit? Thanks in advance!

You can use a 16valve rad, just blank off the small pipe on the header tank that comes from the N/S top of the rad.Several people have done it in the past.A 12valve one will also fit, they have a cooling fan temperature switch on the O/S tank which would be redundant on yours.

The cheapest i could find on ebay (for that year and model) was well over £400 and the fitting was going to be £150 anyway? Unfortunately I could not afford that!

As said - don't fit the 2.9 24v one. I have one of these on mine - fits ok with a little bit of lateral thinking in regards the mounts + fan

| I done this on my 24v over 2 years ago with no probs. You can also change the header tank so you won't have the extra hose connection. Dave
