Its probably the guides that are causing the problem, does your motor still run?

I don't think I have any manual ones but I'll have a look

The guides may have been the original problem but I have freed them off so that they now glide smoothly. The motor works and even turns the cog when not under load. I've taken the cog out and it is stripped but there is no way I can justify spending £40+ on replacing it with those on offer from the USA. I would not take a risk with a secondhand motor because it could be the same as mine i.e. turning when free of the load.
If anyone could supply a handle and the panel to match then I'd be grateful. Otherwise the panel goes back on and I live sunrooflessly (real word)

Look up www.retrofordinternational.co.uk   and go onto their ebay shop.   They have a brand-new Ford handle for about £14, and I bet if you contact them they'll provide the rest of the stuff to get you set.   I had the same problem with my car a couple of years ago, and changed to manual.

I really hate that when it happens. What's the point having an e-mail address in the first place, I always try to answer my queries even if it's "sorry I don't know"
