Thanks Matt I damaged mine trying to get the last bolt out which was on the bottom. I wonder why the used plastic instead of metal?

Sorry the one i have must be off a zetec or something as the parts numbers are no where near and has a 4 bolt fixing

Just to recap then, the whole black coloured part is plastic yes? Any gaskets underneath?

yes it is . No gaskets as the stat has a rubber seal around it that stops the water escaping through the joint.
