The compressors are interchangeable,but the clutch and pulley differ,if yours are OK you could swap them over.If it's the clutch that's rattling and worn out,you can just replace that.If you fit another compressor,best to fill it with aircon oil before recharging in case insufficient oil is in the refrigerant thus risking a seizure.

The pulley is free enough as I can turn it by hand I had car regassed by kwikfit and the machine said no leaks and took quite a fill. When I turn aircon on there is a change in the engine and driving along the road I can feel it hagging as if it is working but on inspection the clutch isnt engaging

just as a finisher to this post it was nothing to do with the compressor, the fuse box contacts for the aircon relay had corroded and was full of water
