AC Evaporator Housing Vacuum Motor Assembly

Whilst cleaning out leaves and other debris from near the fuse boxes I noticed that something on the side of the evap housing was in a very bad way and had corroded through completely! It is the item pictured here:

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/blower03.jpg

and from this: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/acevaphousinglabelled.gif it would appear to be called a Vacuum Motor Assembly.

Not sure how crucial it is but clearly it has to be replaced anyway as it is even more broken than me!

Does anyone have such a thing available please?

Worth enquiring of your local Ford dealer - I have a feeling that part was common to a lot of Ford vehicles at one time and may have carried over to models after the Scorpio.
Chances are that used ones are not going to be in great condition.

I will do that Mike..... not often Ford actually have parts for the Scorpio but I see the logic if it was used on other Fords.

The one on the other Scorpio I have looks ok, but I'm not robbing that for spares as I want it back on the road Smiley

Edit: Just been on to Ford.... £58.25 inc VAT.....and unavailable!

Have found a supplier on German Ebay and then found their non Ebay website and can get one for £35 and £13 shipping

FINIS 6420780 and Engineering code 89GG18A318AA if anyone needs the codes.

Good result !
The 89GG part number implies first use in 1989.

Yes having looked at the Ford parts catalog it's used on Escorts, Orions, Sierras and Granadas from 1982.

Have ordered from Germany now so will replace it next week, even though I still don't know what function it actually does with the Air Con/Blowers

What you are looking at is the vacuum motor to operate the air recirculation flap in the heater. On all my cars they are corroded severely but still work. Get someone to press the air recirc button whilst you watch the valve. You should see the push rod move.
