Some parts needed for 2.3 engine

Whilst Movvy was in for pre-MOT checks, my mechanic noticed an oil leak coming from the lower engine area. It appears that the sump and timing chain cover have corroded, and also said that the main pulley (crank pulley I think) rubber is also perishing badly. In short, does anyone have a 2.3 sump, timing chain cover and crank pulley please? We can sort out a price and postage. Drop me a PM or reply on the thread if you can help. Many thanks Alex

I had thought about the 2.3 Galaxy, but as that engine is set transverse would that mean a different shape sump or not? Perhaps some finis number would help here as the local man is just asking can we get... Top of the stack would really be a sump as this has suffered badly and is "corroded" badly. Checked on the Galaxy forum and it appears the sump is not interchangable with the Scorpio (as I thought as one is RWD and the other is FWD).

Before spending out you need to be sure the rust really is that bad. The pulley damping rubber will almost certainly be perished on second hand one's & new ones are expensive. Unless the pulley run out is really bad it's probably OK. One of the changes to MOT's is "fluid leaks posing an environmental risk": https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mot-changes-20-may-2018 So you should always wipe off as much oil, coolant etc as you can prior to the test. Something I've always done anyway - my sump is usually fairly oily (helps keep the rust away) but not dripping as such. Not saying that's why he commented but could be. I believe the finis codes are: Sump: 1206290 Timing gear cover: 1019027 Pulley: 1020834 Looks as though the Transit 2.3 is the only one with the same sump. The cover appears to be 2.3 Transit, Galaxy & some 2.0l escorts. That finis available on Ebay but check with your registration/VIN it is correct.

Just an update, sump and pulley damper now sourced. Awaiting replies from breakers of the Galaxy to see if any have a timing cover or not. Tompion, I had front discs replaced pre-MOT by my mechanic that noticed the leak. He would have made the sure the sump was presentable for the test. Didn't know that they had flagged up oil leaks as part of the new testing rules though!
