2.9 12v radiator

Have developed a leak on the rad on my 12v, up near the top. Garage are going to try advanced leak stopper because the rad specialist says none available except cheap flimsy Chinese replicas which he says are unreliable. Could get one built from scratch but cost £500 excluding fitting !!
Anyone got one lying around?  Sad

Is it the plastic end tank which is leaking or the core itself ?
If the plastic tanks are OK, you should be able to get it re-cored.

I've had one recored and more recently a new one when the plastic side split.
The new one came overnight from Germany and was not a cheap copy.
A fan failure caused the plastic side tank to go.

Hi Glyn, there are some on the bay from Germany with warranty from around £120, currently listed as for 2.3 but not sure just what you need.
If the leaks not too bad as a temporary measure use K seal, stopped  my small leak in the cossie

The use of leak stopper is not a good idea as it may well cause issues with the heater matrix. A situation you want to avoid!!

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions.
Yes Simmo I am well aware of the problems from leak stoppers but the garage man says that the new stuff which he suggests does not clog everything else up !?? I'll have a better idea when we have got the rad inspected (it's still on the car at present) and can't see exactly where it is leaking from but it is very high on the right end and runs down the end tank.
Thanks for that Xander. Unfortunately East Grinstead is too far for me to go and see it at present.

Item is Here . Looks in good condition but is certainly different to the 2.0ltr one. The openings on the right hand side of the tank are certainly different. Are they fittings or connections of some sort? Huh

The fan thermostat fits in the radiator on the 12v and its clearly seen in the write up on the main site
Its the red plug on the right of the radiator which is one of the main differences.

Looks correct for a V6 rad - the rad is upside down in the pic & the connections on the RHS are for the automatic transmission fluid cooler.

Hi Glyn,

You can always get items collected, use parcel2go website and UPS carriers (vans have shelves fitted so they dont stand on your "stuff"),
Just book and pay online, we use them for most of our glassware and toys type for the biz.

Around £8-(£15 for heavy items), just sort with the seller and send them a prepaid label

HTH hope youre well Roy

Thanks everyone. That picture in the link Snoopy posted looks beautiful!
My concern (I agree it looks "right" but upside down ) was the staining or dirt on the right near the top (if you put it the right way up) between the hose connection and the thermostat hole. That is exactly where you can see the wetness on mine. Bit worried it might have the same problem.
