Who wants a 24V project? (head gasket)

Hi, Is there anyone here who fancies taking on my 96 24V ultima? As posted in the problems forum a few weeks ago, the car has been diagnosed with a blown head gasket and I decided not to attempt repair as I don't have a usable garage. It's a 1996 version, with moondust silver bodywork and excellent black leather interior. Condition wise I would rate very good, with just a couple of bubbles coming up on the rear arches. No dents and the bumpers are unmarked, having been replaced a year ago. There's 103000 miles on the clock. The car has an oil leak from somewhere and I think the centre bearing needs doing as there is a graunch at low speeds when moving off. The auto box fluid is reddish in colour but I should mention that once or twice it has slipped out of gear when cold, but always changes smoothly when driven along. The car has had a new radiator and hoses and thermostat this year and current MOT is valid until May 07, tax 31/10/06. Other work done includes new drop links in 05, rear pads and discs Dec05. Extensive paperwork going back to 1997. The car, although rough to start, can still be driven. Offers invited - its my intention to put on ebay if there is no interest on the site. Pete

is it overheating? do you think it would make it to margate without breaking down?

Can't obviously offer guarantees how far the car will go but I think as long as you keep an eye on the water level and take a stop you could be OK for Margate.
