2.9 Ultima Cosworth 24v for sale but...

The engine runs for a few minutes and then the clouds come from the exhaust.
MOT till March 2007
Alloy wheels
A lot of tread on the tyres
CD 6 disc changer works
Front bumper good, crack on back bumper.
It's done 96,000 miles. Since 91,500 miles, I have had these parts replaced:
the radiator (£348 parts excluding labour), water pump (£167), heater matrix (£103) and power steering pump (£291). The alternator was replaced at 85,000 (£157).
Additionally, I had just had a towbar and electrics fitted and never used (£276 I think) when the gasket went. I ran out of willpower and it's been cluttering up the drive for months. Now my wife has run out of patience and it has to go.
The car is in Marlow (between the M4 and the M40)
Any chance of getting £500 with all these parts? (Garage mechanics receipts available.)
Any advice?

I think you would be very lucky to get £500.00 for an M reg with busted head gasket. The bottom has fallen out of the Scorpio market for running ones let alone ones which will need a few hundred quid spending on them.
Even though you have changed all the parts; it doesn't take away from the fact that even these parts would now be classed as second hand

Thanks for the advice and/or offers. Unfortunately my mechanical skills aren't up to breaking it (or fixing it). I was hoping someone would take it either to fix or break for spares.
It obviously wasn't anyone's idea of a good Christmas present.

I wasn't trying to put a dampener on it Brian; I just thought £500.00 was a little too much to expect for an M reg with a busted gasket. I bought a facelift 2.3 on EBay for £150.00 and missed another damaged facelift Cosworth that went for less than £100.00 There just isn't any money in Scorpios which need repairing. There is more in selling the parts off them... I actually got more on EBay for the 3 rear light units than I paid for the whole car!

I will take the whole car from you as it stands (complete), but as other members have stated 500 is well over what it's worth with it's problems.
To give you an idea, I have a fully loaded 24v estate on an M plate which I was going to sell a few months back, I listed it on ebay and bidding only reached just over 500, and that was for a car with nothing wrong with it and loads of work done (at that time).
I will send you a PM with an offer.

I have made an offer for the car (provisionally accepted), and am arranging to have it transported to my parents in birmingham. Will be sat for spare parts (i need the radiator, stereo, key fob), so you would be welcome to head up there and take parts off it for a nominal cost.....

It's gone, never to set wheel on tarmac again. An empty space on the drive. At least the parts will go to keep other Scorpios on the road.

yep, gone to a good home, already the radiator and towbar have found new homes, keeping at least one scorp on the road. plenty of interest in the parts, so im sure it will rescue plenty more.
