1997 24V Ultima NOW SOLD

Having had five very enjoyable years I have decided it's time to let the Scorpio go. I'll advertise it here first because I know many of you with older Scorpios might like the opportunity for a slightly newer one. Since I bought it in June 2002 I have taken it from from 93,000 to 152,000 Regular readers of the mailing list will know most of the work that I'd done on it which includes: -- New Rear wheel bearings New Front dampers New Rear dampers Air conditioning seal replaced and re-gassed Plug leads replaced and new plugs New EGR valve New idle control valve New (Ford) front wishbones and bushes New anti-rollbar brushes (twice) Automatic box filter and oil ( as much as you can drain of course) New plugs (second set because they recommend every 30,000 which I've followed) Blown dashboard bulbs replaced (10 off) Driver's side catalyst replaced last month. Oil (Magnatec) and (Ford) oil filter replaced this month (and pollen filter and wiper blades last month) MOT until June 2008, during which inspection the tester volunteered as he looked around underneath " There is no rust at all". Obviously not strictly true, but regular application of Waxoyl together with removing the beginnings of rust from the wheel arches and sill seams and then coating with Kurust and then primer and topcoat has kept it at bay. If you start it from cold there is a short timing chain rattle. But I never start it like this so it doesn't rattle. I have an antitheft switch which prevents it firing and so I get the oil pressure up before it fires. Obviously no guarantees here but I believe this technique will have prevented the rattle causing more serious wear. The bodywork is pretty good for a 10-year-old car but the bonnet was very badly chipped when I bought it and the garage's attempts and my own still leave a bit to be desired. Also I've re-sprayed the front bumper and that could do with doing again soon if you're fussy but most people don't notice. Those wonderful 12 spoke alloys are in good condition, one of them being new because I wanted five. Yes the spare is a 12 spoke so no driving at 50 if you get a flat. The tyres are the excellent Michelin Primacy (the second full set I've had) and are only half worn. Approx 5 mm on all eight edges. The recent nasty noise turned out to be the torque converter which I have had replaced professionally at great cost but it was that or scrap the car, and is much much too good for that. They gave the box itself a thorough checkout, changing oil and filter while they were at it. So if you're interested please get in touch quickly or off it goes to ebay Obviously any questions will be answered with total honesty and if you don't know me personally talk to others on the list who have seen the car every year at Harewood and know my standards. see also http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/meet0603.htm the State blue one in pictures 1,2 and 5 and more recently http://groups.msn.com/fordscorpio-co-uk/harewoodhouseleeds2007.msnw?acti on=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=82 Richard Leeds West Yorkshire rickgriffin@ntlworld.com

Hi Dan, Yes, still for sale. Fortunately, I have a double garage with 5 strip lights so no crawling in the wet if you would like to come over for a look. Will call you later Richard
