S reg Cosworth Ultima NOW SOLD
« on: Mar 31st, 2009, 9:17pm »

138k, MOT until Feb 2010, tax until Sep 2009.

Good bits:-

Engine smooth and quiet - had it tuned at Motorsport Developments when I got it and they said it was spot on and they hardly had to touch it Smiley
Auto box pulls as it should (fluid and filter changed Sep 2007)
99% of the toys work (cc, memory seats, heated seats, heated windscreen etc).
Interior is excellent
JBL speakers fitted
Oil and filter changed every six months since I've had it.
New plugs, leads and air filter Sep 2008
LH cat fitted two months ago.
Very good alloys with Pirelli P6000/Michelin Primacy tyres with 3mm of tread.
New front wishbones fitted @ Feb 2008 MOT.
New rear calipers fitted @ Feb 2009 MOT (sticking handbrake - fluid change and bleed done at same time).

Bad bits:-

Arches bubbling as per usual (I have hammerited the inner lips to slow it down though)
Somebody swiped the rear nearside corner - I've buffed the paint off that they kindly left and replaced the light but the wing has been pushed in 3-4mm where it meets the bumper (photo tomorrow).
Sills have a couple of bubbles (again hammerited)
Slight scuff to the front offside wing/bumper, bottom of wing has a slight crease where a friend started to jack it up in the wrong place before I could stop him -could be pulled out and no rust though.
The RH side cat is now rattling
I had to change a siezed blower motor - the air box had to be cut as per http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/fanrepair.htm
Bonnet has two tiny creases either side where the gas struts connect to it - guess who forgot to put it down properly after checking the screen wash Embarassed  As a result, the middle of the bonet at the edges sits slightly lower than the wings (photo tomorrow).
Fuel tank leaks if more that 7/8ths full - probably needs a new fuel sender gasket (which I have but haven't got round to fitting) - I have a new fuel tank which I will include in the sale.
Rev counter always reads a third high - i.e. if the engine is doing 2000rpm the counter will show 3000rpm.   I changed the dials but it doesn't change - never have got to the bottom of it!
Only one key and one remote fob - it isn't the red master key.

Erm, that's it actually.  In fact, why am I selling it again as it doesn't seem that bad now I've written it all down - I'm overly critical sometimes.  You know when you just get fed up with something and no longer interested in it - I guess that's the case here.

I know it's not worth much but it really is too good to break and it's never broken down on me - I've done 11000 miles in it with no issues at all.

Remember, it's got £80 worth of tax on it so shall we start at £500 and see where we go from there?  I really have listed everything I know to be wrong with the car so you can be sure it's an honest sale.

Car will be available 15th April but can be viewed/driven any time before then.

I'll let some photos do some more talking.

Certainly - I'll try and get out with the camera tomorrow or Thursday.

If it's of help - I'll be making a trip down to Milton Keynes in the not to distant future.

I forgot two quite important things:-

Fuel tank leaks if more that 7/8ths full - probably needs a new fuel sender gasket (which I have but haven't got round to fitting) - I have a new fuel tank which I can include in case it is the actual tank.
Rev counter always reads a third high - i.e. if the engine is doing 2000rpm the counter will show 3000rpm.   I changed the dials but it doesn't change - never have got to the bottom of it!

believe me it's the tank. it's very common if you don't preserve your car from rust once a year the tank gets eaten by rust...

Also quite common, it's edis fault but can also be the loom... :/

Hmm, sounds like it's heading for scrap then.  Might just pop it on ebay and let it go for whatever anyone is willing to pay for it Sad

don't be too pessimistic... it's all quite easily fixable.

for example you can get a new tank for as much as 100£ and fix it yourself, not more than 2h work...

it still is a perfectly good car with some minor faults...

Due to popular request here are some photo's of the bits of the car I consider to be below par.  Excuse it being dirty, haven't has a chance to clean it yet.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/amigafan2003/100_2742.jpg
Near side sill

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/amigafan2003/100_2735.jpg
Off side sill

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/amigafan2003/100_2736.jpg
Offside side wing - my friend stupidly started to jack it in the wrong place before I could stop him!  It's about a year old and no rust - I'm sure it could be pulled out.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/amigafan2003/100_2737.jpg
Off side front wing and bumper "scuff" - an odd one though as you can't feel it at all.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/amigafan2003/100_2734.jpg
Offside rear arch

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/amigafan2003/100_2739.jpg
Nearside rear arch

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/amigafan2003/100_2741.jpg
This is the damage to the rear wing when somebody drove ito it and left the scene without any details - grrrr!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/amigafan2003/100_2738.jpg
This is the crease to hte bonnet - same on both sides where the gas struts attach.  As a result bonnet sits a few mill lower than the edge of the wing.  I wonder if a couple of burly blokes could "persuade" it back into shape?

Right - they are all the things I know about.

I've had a thought on the petrol tank - I have a brand new one - I will be fitting that to my new Scorp so the buyer of this will have a known good tank available which I'll throw in if they want it.

Went to Ford this am for a second opinon on the rattle - I wanted to make sure it wasn't chain rattle - they got the stethoscope out and confirmed it is the RH cat with no noises from the engine, sounded sweet as a nut they said.  They did ask if I'd had the LH one done recently, I did a couple of months ago - ahh they said, they normally go within a few monthsof each other.

Note, I also have only one key and one alarm fob and it's not the red key I'm afraid.
