Scorpio Ultima TD estate - Scotland

Hi all, I'm afraid it's time to part company with my Scorp after 18 months of ownership as I've just replaced it with a Merc E Class diesel estate.
I had planned to re mot the car but I'm selling as spares or repair as it decided to destroy it's auxiliary drive belt tensioner last week, along with the belt of course! It's currently mot'd until December 7th 2009 and the only things it will need for the mot are 2 front tyres, as these are almost on the limit and the anti roll bar drag links, of which I have a good pair of second hand ones. Basically, bring a tensioner & drive belt and you can drive it away or it's a trailer or A frame job!

Okay, here's all the important details about the car:

It's a 1996 pre facelift with 168k on the clock. the engine, gearbox, diff, steering rack, self levelling shocks etc. are all excellent, It starts instantly no matter how cold it is and that was with me running on waste veg oil, which these engines love!
I fitted a new clutch cover & plate at 141888 miles, new rear discs & pads at 162298 miles and it has been given regular oil & filter changes whilst in my ownership. All maintenance I have carried out has been documented.
Other good points:
New heated front windscreen fitted last year, perfect working order.
Full pumice leather interior fitted from my spares car with heated electric seats which work perfectly.
7000RDS head unit (usual display problems) with 6 disc CD multichanger.
Self dipping interior mirror replaced under warranty by previous owner.
12 spoke alloy wheels.
Towbar with electrics.
Bodywork not to bad for it's age, a bit of bubbling on the rear arch, as per the photo and a few dings & scrapes as to be expected.
Cruise control works fine.
Header tank not cracked.

Now the not so good bits (it is a Scorpio after all  Wink)
Some electrical issues:
Interior lights only work if you bridge out two terminals on the power saver relay.
Remote central locking doesn't work, not sure if this was through a faulty remote or not as I haven't managed to get a know good remote to test it with.
Boot lock broken, I've rigged up the micro switch from the remote assembly so it can be opened from the inside, long stick supplied Grin
The rear tail lights stopped working, I've wired up an additional switch next to the main light switch.

There is a crack in the front bumper, it's been like this since I got it and hasn't got any worse (see picture)
Aircon compressor seized a few months back, I do have a spare but the clutch pulley was narrower so I just fitted a shorter belt and by passed it.
I've covered 37,000 miles since I bought the car and while I'd be lying if I said it had been totally reliable, it's certainly been comfy and a pleasure to drive. Certainly plenty of life left in it or a good donor for spare parts.

Cheers Jim

Hi guys, my Scorpio has now gone to the Highlander rescue centre to be with his gaggle of other Scorps  Grin
It was great to meet you today Stuart & I hope you manage to get it fixed okay & back on the road again, it really shouldn't take much to.

I've still got a few bits & bobs left (rear shocks, bumpers, self dipping mirror, wheels etc) so I'll get these listed in the relevant section in the next day or so.

Cheers Jim
