Hi everyone, my first post on the forum and glad to be here.
 
Have money ready and looking to buy an Ultima 2.0 or 2.3 pre facelift saloon and live in Bristol. If anybody knows of one for sale could please let me know.

I shouldn't discount a 2.9 12V so rashly.   Aye it uses a wee bit more fuel, but you might save money elsewhere because of the un-burstable engine, and the less fiddly electrics.   I have a 2.3, but I think I would now consider a 2.9 12V if going at the buy for the first time again.

I remember looking for a 2.3 after deciding on a Scorpio, but they were 50-70% more expensive at the time, so I ended up with a 24V Ultima.

There is 6-7 mpg difference twixt 2.3 and 2.9,but that lovely low torque range of the 12v makes the difference worth it,and as PJ says,such a wonderful strong low stressed lump.

I am going to be selling my 1997 P reg 2.3 ultima soon  (don't want to but cash is tight and I have got to get a new van for work). I am in the north west of Scotland, a long way from Bristol. Let me know if you are interested. PM me if you want my phone number.

hi this is my 1st time on here too i have an 1998 R pre facelift but (facelift headlights + grill) silver 2.3 manual ultima for sale MOT jan 2011 tax oct 2010 156000 mls good clean car for year and drives fine but will need clutch in near future and repair of rear cross member (not MOT fail as went through last 2 no probs) looking for around £450. I'm in Norfolk

Thanks for all the replies, did eventually find and buy a 2.0 16v Ultima saloon, P reg 90,000 miles, everything works as it should, no rust not even to rear arches. Happy days.
