Scorpio 12v 2.9 (no MOT) N reg, mauve

For sale with regret is my ford scorpio 2.9 12v ultima automatic, which has just ran out of mot.  I have been told by a garage that the MAP sensor has malfunctioned and will need replacing as the car runs rough on idle and frequently cuts out at traffic lights etc - the car has been running badly for around 2 months now despite just having a brand new battery fitted.  I was told on here that it could be spark plugs/rotor arm but am unsure.

The car is taxed until the end of december, and has just under 67,000 miles with part service history and some old MOT's - It is a lovely looking car and is in great condition for age with an almost immaculate cream leather interior and great bodywork (has the odd trolley dink and some age related marks/scratches but it polishes up well).

It is a mauve/plum metallic colour  and features all of the extras associated with the ultima - cruise control (never used), heated leather seats, air con (needs re-gassing), electric windows (all working) and anti glare rear view mirror, CD changer, .

Would need to be trailered away but is an ideal car for an enthusiast being in such good condition.  My reason for selling is that I dont have the time or money to spend fixing the engine issue.  Could potentially be an easy fix for someone - £400 buys it.  Thanks

If you are interested, text me on 07513667007and I can also email some photos of the car.

I could drive my 2.0ltr Ultima down to you, and drive your 2.9ltr back!   Mine has only just run-out of MOT and I see no reason to think it won't sail another.   Mine has no engine issues, and like yours polishes well.   Mine has NO rust at all top side or underside but has 114k miles.   Mine also has perfect black leather, and all electrics work including sunroof.   MAP sensor?   I've always fancied a 12 Valve.   Presumably yours would drive the distance, it's only failing on low speeds?   Besides, I could get it breakdown covered!!!

Thanks for the offer but I just don't have the time or money to justify owning another car at the minute.

If anyone is interested, I would be happy to sell for £350 as the insurance expires on December 4th!

EDIT: The first person to offer £300 takes it as it is far too good to scrap - the car needs no welding and with the MAP sensor replaced, should fly through an MOT! Cheers.

A real shame that a car as good as that is offered at such a low price.   It kind of proves to me that the few Scorpios that are advertised for four-figure sums must be perfect if they sell, or just not worth that money.   It's very easy to say a car is worth such-and-such, but just try and sell it!

No doubt prices will rise in a few years on those that are left, the better Mk2 Granadas seem to be raising a few quid.

I know alot of people hate what we do to them but without us paying what we do, because they are already rare, they would not be worth anything but scrap money so if you get more thaan scrap money from us,surely thats a good thing ?

Surely at 250 and it's condition it is far too good to banger race. Must be someone wanting a low mileage Scorpio. I'm actually tempted myself. I have 14 so saved many from salvage.
No offence to the banger racers but this one should be saved.

It is a great example of a low mileage scorpio and I would like it to at least be used for a donor car or better still put back on the road again.  Since owning it, it's only covered just over 3000 miles and is almost rust free.

have to agree, a map sensor is cheeply obtained through ebay and other sites or stores. This one could be made right for less then 150 quid

Matt,

Luckily enough I have my own storage and garages. I have space for more but storing cosworths mainly.
Never really wanted a 12v but this looks in too nice a condition to be destroyed.
I wouldn't have the time to drive it with 14 others and our two company cars in the house.
Shame as a faulty map sensor if indeed it was diagnosed correctly is a quick fix.
