Scorp saloon,P reg, MOT until Jan 15, Good Runner.  Only problem is sunroof gears need replacement, and ABS light comes up occasionally.
Reason for sale is that I dont do long runs any more.
Mileage is 106k and it runs well.  Taxed until end Nov.
Body work is sound except for slight corrosion on rear n/s arch.
Any reasonable offer considered.  Location Maidstone, Kent.

Fred, sorry to hear that you are giving up your Scorp. That is one nice car!. Are you sure??. Sunroof no problem and the ABS sounds like a loose 'Tompion' connnection.  Wink

I used to go to banger racing when I was young, not for over 30 years have I been. I cannot stand to see rare cars destroyed. They get payed extra if the car is rare or hard to find, its just people distroying our car heritage, imho.

What i fail to understand with forums including this one is the hate for banger racing. Without us,these scorpios would be worthless when you've finished with it. I see people complain about what we do with them but you rarely see people putting their hands in their pockets to save them !

Sorry wayne but I have to disagree that scorpios are worthless without banger racers  Roll Eyes
I could of sold you my 24v twice but I just couldn't do it. I waited and now its being restored. Plus I got more money for it.  Grin and i think space plays a big part in people not being able to buy every one that comes up for sale mate. Just my opinons others might not agree.

As said by others it is a shame to discard a GOOD Scorpio for bangering or directly for scrap, however at this time the cars are about to enter the classic scene, until they do,prices will remain low.We must remember that these have up to now been used as a cheaply available every day car,and as reliability fails bringing large repair bills, people tend to take the line of least resistance by buying something reliable, newer and possibly smaller,no dealer or indeed few individuals will take the old Scorpio off their hands, therefore being a rear wheel drive they are sought after for the track, most of the lads will bring £300 notes and take the car away, easy result. As I think I wrote some time ago, this is a perfectly healthy and indeed fairly spectacular sport, the cars take a lot of preparation involving mechanical alterations and lots of body alterations, they are not just driven to a track and wrecked  Roll Eyes
One of my spares limousines and a rotten hearse went to Kings Lynn track, and when they became 'uncompetitive' were recycled in the prescribed manner.
To sum up then, the very best Scorpios will remain intact and enter the classic scene to be much cherished,
even the soundest bodied of them have inbuilt age related problems,ie electronic and wiring breakdown, but when loved forever nothing is insurmountable for the avid enthusiast.
A couple of years ago you would see possibly thirty Scorps on ebay, now it's single figures, anything becoming scarce will rise in value,so if you have a spare dry corner, tuck that good example away.

As long as you make sure the stripped parts are available for us I couldn't care less what happens to old Scorpios.
