Hi Everyone Have just checked with a very good friend of mine with regards the remote key fobs available, unfortunately the key fobs are not interchangeable with other vehicles they will inly work with the vehicle that they were desisned for, as usual Fords have to be difficult and want you to buy a new one each time thats why they make them all different. So i think were stuck with sourcing Scorpio key fobs if ours were to die. I would love to prove my friend wrong though so if anyone has managed to get anoyher key fob from a another car working on the old Scorpi then let me know and i can inform him, he did say that if anyone has done this with another key fob he will do a few experiments at work with different key fobs on various cars, so we have nothing to lose. So get experimenting guys!!!!!!! Fitzy

Could well be. I'm currently 'considering' getting a new Tranny and notice that it has a similar remote. Not identical but it only needs to work on the same frequency... doesn't it? Paul

as far as my mate knows each vehicle has it's own frequency for the remotes to work on, this is a security feature which stops someone from either cloning your signal or programing their remote to your vehicle when you do your own one. But you never know as i've noticed on this site where there's away there's a will and people on this site have a way of getting around things so lets hope someone proves my mate wrong, i could do with afew free pints . I'm sure each vehicle does not have its own frequency and that it infact creates one at random each time it is used so it can not be copied because it is never the same. However i may be wrong.

Sorry Peeps i should have described the frequecy bit a little better my mate say's that as far as he know's each vehicle has its own frequency range for the remote to use, the frequency each one use's is only small but the remote only has to change it slightly for it to be different from the previous one used so there are thonsands to cycle through. My mate is not an expert on radio frequencies which goes for me too, but he is basing this on what information he can find at his place of work, (Ford Main Dealer) i dare say someone on this site will know more about radio frequencies and how many different ranges there are (high, medium & low etc) there are.
