Anyone need any small spares. I can bring to Derby

Hello all, I am coming to Derby on Sunday but was planning a trip to the breakers before hand and I was thinking that if any member wants any small spares bringing, let me know and I can fetch them. I will only charge at cost and will get receipts of course!! The yard I go to does not rip off people anyway so chances are the prices will be pretty good. I am not talking engines, rear axles, manifolds etc!!! so please bear this in mind. Interior bits would be good as I don't have to get my hands too dirty then!! Now this is not an absolute definate, but if there is enough interest, I will do it. Let me know Baz

Hi Baz If it's not putting you to too much trouble, and I don't know if they will have one, but I'm after the wood effect surround for a Auto Gear shift, that sits on the centre consul. The Breakers near me have only got manual ones and they are different in shape and have the leather sleeve attached to them.mine has a crack in it and one of the posts that holds it down has snaped off. If you can get one I would be grateful if you could please let me know, and thanks for being thoughtful enough to ask. Keith

Hi Baz. As you seem to have access to breaking Scorp's, I wonder if you have one there with a good sunroof seal (or even the whole panel) and a good driver's door seal (raven trim)? Seeya Sunday! Paul

Kef, I have a couple of spare trims in my garage. I will fetch one on Sunday. Paul, with regards to the sunroof seal, I assume yours has gone like mine where the join is at the back. I did some checking the other day at the yard, all of the late scorpios like ours had the same problem: the seals had gone rusty and lifted up. However, on the earlier granadas, the seals seem to be a little more resiliant to rust and they are the same size. Also, the sierra sunroof was exactly the same size as well. I had another idea, I have a spare seal which suffered from the same rust problem, but I was wondering, if I cut out the rusty bit with a stanly knife and a sharp junior hacksaw, who's to say you can't marry a short 4" piece into the gap. I may then have 2 joins but at least they would be flat, and if properly waterproofed, would last for years. Just a thought, I could get you the door seal no problem, but I may have to post it down because the ones in the yard don't have any on and the next scorpio is not due in until tuesday next week. A 2.3 ultima I believe!! Baz

Cheers Baz. You're spot on about the sunroof seal. Weird how they all do the same I might even be able to get my hands on a Granada one myself. But I wasn't sure if they were exactly the same or not. Is there any good reason why the joint can't be at the front of the roof? When its where it is at the back, it seems to be under more pushin' & pullin' pressure. As for the door seal, I would much appreciate it if you could locate me a good one. Thanks very much... Paul

OO! Me, me, me again... If you happen to be able to lay your hands on a good centre cap for the soft spoke alloys, I would like one of those. Kwik Fit managed to scratch mine getting it off! Paul

Ren, The HBC is situated in the centre of the bulkhead just under the window and has 3 lots of wires coming out of it. It is used by the climate control system. Steptoe, I'll have a look and see if there is one but I don't think so Baz

cheers barry! btw, i take it you see some estate for breaking? do they have the small plastic strip in the boot area. where the locking pin comes out of. about 3 inches thick (wide) and full width of the opening. it's a grey/black bit with 6 screws. i could do with one of them as well. you know you'll go to heaven for this.

Paul/Andrew I only ever charge what I've been charged anyway when it comes to the list. If I don't get charged, I don't charge for it!! Paul, they way I like to do it is let me send the stuff, you check it is OK then send me a cheque or whatever to cover postage. If it is small stuff, I usually ask for stamps to cover sending the next lot...and so it goes on!! Baz
