Yep, Load and install all the latest MS Windows updates at http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp and make sure you have enabled the Windows XP firewall. The Sasser worm does not attack the PC through emails but through open ports on your machine. To check to see how vulnerable your system is, run this https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 security test. It's perfectly safe and will show you how vulnerable you are.
