just joined the club boys and girls

  Hi people, guess wot i have just brought a scorpio ultima and need to know all there to know about it.
have not been driven for a while so this is my first car in over a year (think u can guess wot i did  ) my last car was an escort which i loved with a passion so hopin it will be the same with the Scorpio. I have not even picked it up yet as can not drive it till the 21st May.
it is a 2,0cc 16v 1995 Ultima with full spec. 74k miles on the clock and payed £2500 for her, is this good value?, please let me know. Anyway thanks for any tips or help u can give me, Happy motoring peeps, later!!!!

Hi Sue - welcome to the 'club'!
Not a bad price - and from my point of view you have bought the best to run from economy aspect!
A few basics for when you get it!
1. make sure battery cover is fitted
2. If instrument needles dance when you first switch on - check battery
3. The purple thing on the dashboard is a UV sensor!
And lastly if any instrument lights are out - a good wack often works!!

And Welcome, this is the only site you need if you have a Scorpio, Every one on this site is really helpful, and don't be afraid to ask a question, even if you think it sounds silly, we have all been there and there are no books on this car to learn from, other then ask someone. Happy motoring , I bet you cann't wait to get behind the wheel again can you.!!

I think Daven did a great job of bringing forth some of the basics, although personally I wouldn't whack the dashboard too hard  Definitely make sure you have that battery cover though!
There's absolutely no doubt that you will discover some very useful things on here. There's usually someone that can help with any problems. In addition to this forum, you would do well to investigate the main site. Its so in depth that I don't think I've seen everything on it yet - and I've been here for a year!
Congratulations on the purchase, and good luck with it in the future. Keep reading!

Hi Sue and welcome. I think eveyone has covered the main points, people are very helpful. Just one thing I would like to add and that is if you have any strange auto gearbox changes then its worth cleaning the MAF. I had this problem when I bought my car and fords spent ages on it and it cost £££ without the problem being sorted. I looked on this site identified the problem spent 20mins on cleaning the MAF and bingo cars been fine ever since. Now I have bored you silly your going to tell me you have a manual gearbox.

Hi Sue, The only thing i can add to this is always ask here first if you ever have any problems with your Scorp as more often than not the spotty kid at Fords will not have a clue.
