site difficult to navigate
« on: May 7th, 2004, 10:47am »

Does anyone else find the main fordscorpio.co.uk website difficult to navigate. Apparently there is some wonderful and helpful content on there covering things from explanations of features to how to repair your car. I can only access this content when someone posts a direct link to it on the forum.

Is there any other way to navigate to this great content? If not, is there a case for creating a more comprehensive navigation bar from the homepage to facilitate navigation?

hi there

this has came up in the past. down the left hand side of the website is a category, ie faultfinder, hardcore info etc. some versions of anti-virus type program stop this from showing. do a search of the problem and advice pages and you might find a solution that works for you. ortherwise use the index page.

HI Lad's
when you click on the web page in this posting, save it has a favorite. By clicking Favorite's on your tool bar then click on Add to (of the options, it will ask if you what to save it click Yes ) Then when you want to view the main site just  click favorite's again on the tool bar at the top of your page, A drop down box appears, scroll down to http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/index2.htm
Click on that and you in. !!
Hope this as been some help ?

I'm a bit bemused by it all I must say. I've always found it pretty easy. Maybe if you're one of these who has buttons 'missing' down the left hand side, it could be tricky, but otherwise...  Huh
I dunno, maybe I misread or missed something somewhere.

Oh I agree, the site is very easy to navigate.

But on my computer it just doesn't show the menu on the left, even though I have NEVER experienced any problems on ANY other websites. Strange...

I often use my computer at work instead.

its easy for me as well. I get the list down the left hand side but i think a "search" box could be added. It might make  it easier to locate info that your  looking for.

hi there

i posted a couple of screens to the forum. this is what the main site looks like (just about). if your screen is different then you have the problem! Wink we think it's something to do with norton's etc, but haven't found a complete solution yet. we are still working on it, though! Smiley

Nick,
there is a search box - two in fact. There is one at the bottom of the Home page, and another at the bottom of the Search/Map page: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/index2.htm

The Search function is very useful.

I posted the original topic. I'm a amazed to hear that there are navigation buttons on the left hand side of the page. I just don't see them!!!! Shocked

I run Symantec Internet Personal Firewall which is quite powerful but does affect my surfing experience - I often cannot enter the checkout process of online stores, see images etc. However, this is not my fault and I am not alone here .................

For example, 13% of internet users will not be able to use Java content.  But, it is possible to design the websites to be 'accessible' to all types of broswers and access devices eg PDAs and so on. Designing sites in this way ensures that it can be used by the maximum number of people. Here are the accessibility web design guidelines for anyone who is interested http://www.w3.org/WAI/Resources/#ch

i know what you are saying. yes, it's a pain. we need to remember that this is a free service, though. ok, with help from pay-pal donations! the main guys do this as a hobby and do an excellent job, given those restraints. Smiley
