This is real sad news... I deeply sympathise with you Michael, I hope they have some leads and catch the things that did it.. mind you they'll probably just be juveniles and get a slap on the wrists anyway.

Hope you get another one sorted soon.

The car was a 1996 2.0L 16V Ultima - Auto - 54000 on the clock - New Battery fitted 6 months ago - New steering rack and full assembly fitted two  months ago .

The recovery people says its most likely  totalled - write off

An insurance engineer / assessor will give his report on Tuesday 16th November

I may be able to get the wreck for GBP 200 if I ask - problem is - I have no where to keep it

It would be great for spares - mechanically it was perfect
Bodywork - panels - boot excellent - alloys etc etc etc

As a keepsake - I have kept the remote and very fond memories

I only have that one car ( or did have ) the Scorpio aforementioned

It would be a great car for spares

Only the interior is a burnt out disaster

I am in Weston Super Mare but the burnt out Scorpio will be taken to Clevedon - about 10 miles from Weston - 15 miles from Bristol for assessment

Sorry Captain, I changed my original post obviously after you read it. I have a spare 2L auto that needs gearbox and steering rack, but is otherwise generally good. You can have it free if it helps, and we could find somewhere to do the work.
