BBC Top Gears Crap Cars Book

Happened to be in my local book store looking for the new Kathy Reich's book when a book on a display stand caught my attention.
Judging by the display I can only presume that this is a new book, but BBC Top Gear have a book out called 'Crap Car's.  At number 48 is the Ford Scorpio,...well at least I know I drive something that has a claim to fame!! hahahaha

How Strange - I'm sure Quentin Wilson (Top Gear Presenter) once called the Scorpio THE best used executive car bargain going.

think we have had this conversation before..
jeremy clarkson..well lets not go there Grin Grin Grin
quentin wilson did champion the cause of the second hand buyer, very knowledgeable in that area, mind you that was his business, and always found i could listen to him for longer than clarkson....
well thats my input anyway, and yes i certainly agree with the quote about the second hand scorpio, top value for money,if you get a good one,i know we all have horror stories so to speak, but is that not the same with every used car?.................
right then, lets have a look for that book now Angry Angry

Second-hand cars was indeed his business. Mind you, didn't he also get done for clocking motors? Undecided

Anyway, I've just got back home from town (all open on a Sunday - well it is almost Christmas) and I had a look at the book in question...
Its the 50 crapiest cars so at least we're near the right end of the scale. And I must admit, there's some awful cars in there. But there's also a few legends too. Take their worst for example, their no1... the VW Beetle. OK, its not to everyone's taste and its not flash by any stretch of the imagination. But its got (or had) something. Simplicity, character and loads more probably. Its a classic. The Scorpio's heading the same way I reckon.

QW was a presenter when Top Gear was all about factual reporting and useful info on Cars - then they changed the format and it became something else (in my humble opinion they ruined it) which has more to do with sensationalism and 'boy racer' image. No-one can  really take anything that they (JC) says seriously can they?

I picked up a copy of Practical Classics at the weekend and they were talking about classics, mentioning things such as the Hilman Hunter, Cortina Mk III etc so I am absolutely certain that the Scorpio will become a 'Classic' in the future - after all it has everything going for it - low production numbers, 'different' looks and a 'desirable' option (the Cosworth - which will help the other models become sought after).

That's assuming that we actually have any petrol left to run them on Smiley

Got a right a old classic boy 'ere then, cos I've got a Mk3 Tina & the Scorpio  Roll Eyes
I think I like the ones that most people hate  Undecided

With all the Scorpios that are breaking just lately, and considering the ones in scrappies, it makes me wonder how many are actually left.
By the time its 20 years old, they're gonna be really rare!
