Good updates but I don't see the correct drawing for the 24v Cosworth coolant system in the coolant pages. Granted, there is a line diagram of one type of coolant system fitted to the 24v but the layout that fits my car is not shown.
My car has the 'three' smaller hoses exiting the overflow tank. One goes to the upper left side (right as you face the front of the car), which I formerly understood as being hose number 6?!
Another hose is purely a trailing pipe for any excess coolant to escape and the third hose runs to the top of the engine.
I would really like to know exactly what the purpose of hose number 6 is if possible

some thoughts:
ABS system - in an earlier thread http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Advice;action=di splay;num=1121970641 both my ABS/TCS lights came on after wheel spin on rough ground. They stopped appearing when on starting the engine and before pulling away I turned the TCS off then on again - no more lights. A couple of months later they reappared after going over a set of road bumps - but again disappeared when I repeated the TCS off/on sequence. Although I've not had a chance to check the sensors yet I've not seen any lights since  Not sure exactly why this would happen but the ABS/TCS is working fine. Thought this might be something for members to try as a preliminary cure.
On the question of not finding any codes - I'm sure I've read somewhere on the site that the codes aren't generated until the error has existed/persisted for about 25 cyles  .
"Stalling when hot" (usually when just pulling away at low revs 750-1000 I'd say) - what about the possibility of the sticking fuel pressure regulator.

DJ, you're quite right, m8 - my mistake 
I've put the correct figure on the page now - refresh your browser.
There are three smaller bore pipes on the top of the header tank. A small 12mm pipe comes from the vent tube on the top of the filler - this is not in contact with the interior of the tank unless the cap blows off and the pipe itself is not shown on the figure.
2 larger 17mm pipes come from the air space in the header tank. One goes to the cylinder head as shown, and the other (6) runs along the front panel in to the top of the radiator on the nearside. I have confirmed this arrangement on my cossie, so it is correct.
Does this reflect what you're seeing?

Yes, I've had the same thing on my TCS over uneven ground - I'll work that in when I can, thanks.
Re the pressure regulator - yep, that's a possibility. It should be covered by the fuel trims on the Fuel Monitor but I'll add it for the non-OBD equipped - thanks.

Hi Eric,
that was quick!
On the stall when hot, isn't it too much fuel pressure?
On ABS/TCS light - when restarting and if light still fails to go out - stop engine, restart then turn off the TCS, turn on again that should cure it (if not then look for other faults as listed)

PS how did you get that "clean" effect on the engine plastic top cover.

Paul,
TBH, the stall could be either rich or lean - as well as poor starting. One causes flooding, which stops combustion, and the other not enough fuel, and this prevents the cylinder from firing.
The ABS/TCS light includes the restart - '1. Turn engine off and restart - if light goes out and remains out No Fault' - but I see what you mean about the rest, I'll give it a look.
Re the engine cover - do you mean this?
Sheer vanity, I know - but I like the engine area to look clean. All plastic parts are treated with Son-of-a-Gun plastic cleaner. It's is a bright yellow pump bottle from motor factors. I put it on with a sponge and then rub over with a clean cloth. I use it on the hoses and all the plastic bits.

Re the pipe (6) - it goes to the n/s top of the radiator. What we have found over the years is that the radiator has been replaced at some stage by someone who ordered a Granada instead of a Scorpio Cosworth radiator, and the flange for the pipe marked (6) is missing. Instead of reordering and doing the job properly, some people have installed the wrong radiator, and left the pipe (6) trailing. Because it's connected to the air space rather than the fluid you can get away with this indefinitely, but there will be fluid loss because of evaporation and there is a reduced ability of the system to deal with airlocks.
Is this what has happened to yours, d'you think?
