New guy, new car, big thanks to this site

Just got my first Scorp!! This site has proven absolutely invaluable and would like to thank the admin for producing such an awesome library of info and all the forum go’ers for such a wealth other stuff.
Start of this week, my Mondeo was wiped out in a crash (a+++hole driver) and needed something cheap fast. I called my mechanic who is well trusted in my area to see if he knew anything that was kicking about and he said he had a Scorpio that he was selling for a mate. I had no idea what this was and it sounded way to cheap for the spec he told me. So, off on a web search I went and found this site in no time. Spent the batter part of an afternoon going through all the technical stuff and went to view the car armed with the buyers guide and a pile of notes gleaned form other sections form the site. Well, spent the batter part of an hour crawling over the thing, picking up on the odd bits and bobs and gave the mechanic a report on what I had found. He dropped the price accordingly and through in a full service for £100 to get shot of the thing. Job done, and last night cash and docs were exchanged. Very chuffed.
I got a 97 P reg 2.3 Ultima Auto in dark purple, fully loaded with 104800 on the clock
Only main possible thing is the gear box is a bit revy and thumpy (not all the time) but fluid is pink and OK. Couple of electrical gremlins: CD player screen cuts in and out, S/E + difficult surface button work intermittently, Radio remote switch does not turn volume up (everything else on it is OK).
Bodywork is very good with only a couple of minor surface scratches and a little bit of paint chipping at the panel between the headlamp and air intake.
Checked all the receipts that go back to 2001 and all major stuff has been carried out and got a NEW ENGINE in 2003!!??
All in all, the car seems to be in good knick going by everything I learned from this site.

And the price…. £700. Hopefully I have not bought a Turkey, but I have got to say that this is none hell of a car  Grin
