Back From France.....At Last

Unfortunately, due to some technical difficulties I was unable to do my annual "Scorpio in France" diary this year, partly due to not having a Scorpio with me to write and photograph!

Following damage to the auto transmission fluid cooler, (slight crack in the pipe causing fluid to seep out and onto hot exhausts!) and a bodged repair by a French bloke which caused more damage to the gearbox seals, I was forced to hire a nice new 2006 Merc S Class for a fortnight. These are some pics I took and also some of the inside for Sally!

We did see a few "foreign" Scorpios but only 3; 1 dutch and 2 french. Someone noted recently that a lot of the European Scorpios seem to be mid or low spec models. Looking back at my older photos from last year and these here, I would concur with that assumption too.

I did get a few odd looks when I slammed on the brakes in Paris and jumped out of the £60,000.00 Mercedes to take pictures of an old Scorpio Ghia!!

Things started off so well, a nice leisurely trip to Dover and booked into the hotel where I took this picture of the Scorp with the sunset in the background!

Unfortunately, the next photo was of the car on the side of the Autoroute looking all forlorn!

Pics of the foreign cars I saw:

An arty one with the Eiffel tower and the scorpio below!

Some shots of the poor old scorpio on a french recovery truck and the English one sent to take us home last night. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of the story because at 4 o'clock this morning, the recovery truck got a blow-out and we sat on the hard shoulder for an hour and half while someone came out to fix it. Finally got home at 7 am this morning!!

I am now seriously considering buying an S class (not a new one though!!) and either keeping the Scorp for weekends or selling the whole lot, FDS and all on Ebay!!

Finally for Sally, some other shots of the S Class.... what a car!!

Oh and the weather in the South of France was crap at times too!!
