Well it has been a gorgeous day here in Rochdale,so I thought I would give my ugly looking centre caps a well needed refurb.Give them a good sanding and 4 coats of alloy wheel spray and 2 clear lacquers, dried in no time and now back on the wheels.

hi there

they come off.  easiest way is to put them in the steamer. Shocked Grin works a treat. Smiley

just glue them back on.

hi matt

watch how you take them off. i broke one (outer plastic, ford sticker in underneath this) when i done it. Embarassed

if you do, you need to get some caps from a different ford (focus, fiesta, etc) and swap them over.

mine are now the 'black' ones instead of the scorpio 'blue' ones.

hi matt

as far as i know, they are not available. i can't find a code for them, anyway, just the caps themselves.

i ended up buying 4 fiesta caps from ebay for £10 or so.

btw, i think there's 2 sizes, so look carefully at any photos of them.

Matt,no need to take out the badges. All you need is a small piece of masking tape, cover the badge and with your finger nail just work the tape into the recess then either with a sharp stanley blade or scalpel trim off the excess.Make sure everything is totally dry before removing the tape, you may just have to run the blade around the edge of the tape. Another way is to coat them with vaseline, do the spray job, let it dry and wipe off the vaseline, hey presto! instant masking without the hassle.....

Nice idea for a larger area but for not for something like this.Masking only takes a matter of seconds and when removed you have a nice crisp sharp edge.Roy Wink

hi there

i thought matt wanted to refub his wheels, hence taking off the ford sign. they all go into acid and then in to the oven to be baked.

btw, you also need to take off the plastic trim (bolts/screws). i painted them with mercury grey metalic from my old sierra. gives a slight contrast to the titanium colour of the wheels.

For larger areas you can use copydex, then it peels off....
