Hello and welcome to the site 2.3's seem pop up on the problem page with cracked plastic inlet manifolds and wiring loom problems now and again (as well as the general Scorpio faults)

caprimanuk, the scorpios are excellant cars and like every car on the road, it depends how the car has been looked after in the past. But 1 thing you are garanteed to get is first class help from this site should a problem happen. All the best

They are fantastic cars, I should know as I am on my second one. Like I said people here are always willing to help. There is a fault finding page aswell to help you out. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm

I've had two, the first a 68k (so called!) from new with no service history and in the first 2 months I had to spend £1500 in repairs that were essential and it still wasn't right. When the heater matrix started to leak I got rid of it and bought an omega! Big mistake that was even worse so kept that and looked out for a decent scorpio, took me 3 months but I found one a 66k from new with full ford history and two owners from new and this car has been totally and utterly brilliant other than a air con compressor I had to get fitted! If a car has been cared for it shows especially in something like the scorpio.
