Just joined, thought I'd say hi!

Hi all, as the title suggests, I've just joined the forum and thought it only polite to introduce myself I'm on the look out for a 2.5td estate, preferably the Ultima and pre facelift. The plan is to run on veggie oil as the vm engine is supposed to be well suited to it. I'll put a wanted ad in the relevent section shortly. I've noticed one or two others on here already on the veg so it would be great to hear your experiences, whether your single or twin tanking, etc, etc. If there's anyone with a 2.5d estate in my area, I'd love a run in one as I've never been in one....yet! I used to have a MK3 Granada Scorpio a few years back and thoughly enjoyed it, other than it's appetite for auto boxes! The rest of my fleet at the moment consist of a '89 Volvo 760GLE on lpg (bought as a stop gap while I sold the Rav4) a '67 Singer Chamois Coupe, a '63 BS Nymph (Imp based kit car) and a '89 Kawasaki GPZ900R Cheers Jim

Hello and welcome to the site I run my Diesel on 100% used veggie oil poured straight in the tank no modifications, I do add a few litres of diesel in the cold weather otherwise it does struggle a bit in starting on pure oil although once it does start it runs fine

Hi Highlander, thanks for the welcome I had heard that these engine were very good on svo/wvo, could I ask how many miles you've done on veg so far? I take it from your avatar that you're a fellow Scot too? Cheers Jim

Welcome to the site Jim. I run a boat estate (it's my second) and they are excellent. Mines a pre facelift with the uprated engine and manual box which is the best combo imo. I tried a few auto ones and wasn't as impressed. I think highlander owns about 87% of the Scorpio's in Scotland! He is a true Englishman though Paul

Hi Chris, I'll keep an eye out for you in the Dunfermline area, what do you drive Scorpio wise? Not many running about here, there's a gorgeous silver facelift estate in Aberdour, nice I saw a metallic green estate at the sorting office yesterday too. Thanks for keeping an eye out for a TD for me. I was going to put a wanted post on here but haven't worked out where to put it! Basically looking for a good pre facelift Ultima estate, any colour apart from green (Why is every one I see advertised on autotrader green??) Paul, I'll need to be quick if I'm going to beat Highlander to any cars that come up in the area then I do enjoy autos but I've read that the 2.5TD with the auto box isn't suitable for towing so I'd rather opt for a manual too. You mention that yours has the uprated engine, when was that introduced? Cheers Jim

Thanks for that Scorpio_man, I'd had a look in the various sections but didn't go into the Production History bit (oops!) I want to avoid the TDI as it's not as happy running on veg oil, I believe, the earlier engine is better for that. Cheers Jim

Hi Jim, driving a pre facelift tourmallard green 2.0 16v Ultima saloon, had it for nearly 3 years, has its wee niggles but I am kinda hooked on her now though. I see another 3 scorps around this area on a regular basis, 2 estates and 1 saloon.
