I know one or two of you have seen my scorpio & know the condition its in, but some t----r has run in the n/s rear door (another door required), damaged the n/s front door & marked the n/s rear arch, the loss adjuster came & looked at it, 'have'nt seen one in this condition for years' was his comment, had letter yesterday, they say its a total loss & have offered me £580 for it. certainly dont know where I could find one in that condition for that money. any one interested in a 3 month old s/steel exhaust for a 24v, cost £400.

Sorry to hear of your woes.... Huh

Don't give up... Argue with the insurance co and don't accept their offer. they only write it off cos it is easier than negotiating, if you accept the write off theyre happy.  Others have been in the same predicament including myself, although mine was a different case (uninsured recovery) but there are recent occurances if you look in the postings here....
Push the classic car status at them.

Martin, Sorry to learn of your problems. Just in case you are going down the route of 'self repair' a new post has been put up today in 'Parts for sale' for doors.

it does help, me being 'in the trade' with the repairs, in fact new n/s rear door is still available at about £380.00, though I think I may have a s/h one in the loft. just feel so insulted. repairs came to just over 1100.00, if they give me that I will be happy.

So have I,my hearses and limos have home made doors,so they will be of no use to me,they are on my dark aubergine spares car.Dont these insurers get your back up,our lass ran into the back of another car in her old Astra, she was told to send it to their approved repairers who said it would cost £2000 and prepared to send it for crushing.I reared up on the insurers, and repaired it using mainly used parts for £300.A perfect little car back on the road.

don't take that offer, if it wasn't your fault.

make them fix it, or give you much more money.  more like £1k+.

dont worry, I will give them the 4 options option.
1, pay me realistic value for the car.
2, take it away & repair it to my satisfaction.
3, give me the value of the repair estimate so I can repair it.
4, find a car of same specification in the same condition.
their choice.
thats what I did last time when the old scorp got trashed, it took them 115 days to make their mind up last time, I even rented a car to my wife & charged them £15 per day for that also, and still got what I wanted.
