My Scorpio
« on: Nov 24th, 2008, 2:53pm »

Hi all,

I live in Bucharest, I am 31 years old and I work as an e-commerce business consultant.

About 5 months ago I found out that a colleague of mine was selling his Scorpio MK1. The fact that the car was in good condition, had service history and only one owner, helped me in my decision.

So i bought it. Is it 2.4 V6, it has 280.000 km with no major repairs, manufactured in 1989. It needs some new shock absorbers, and I changed the TPS and IACV on it. That's about it.

It's not ghia, it only has front electric windows and mirrors, and AC.

I bought a new clutch kit (Sachs) but I didn't have time to install it yet, and some other minor stuff.

It has it's original paint, original stereo and speakers, pretty much.....all is original. I love it...it's a car with a strong personality Kiss

Next year I plan to buy a Mustang also, but we"ll see if I can save the money for it.

Krugerblue.
Your car is actually a mark 3 Granada, the Scorpio designation on those was a trim and equipment level, that is top of the range, the Ghia designation was a lower spec than Scorpio.
The Scorpio proper was made from 1995 to 1998,and is a very different beast in most ways.
     All the best

Yes, it may be. I will post more pictures with it soon. It was originally manufactured for German market, and the previous owner imported it in Romania.

The Granada was marketed as the Scorpio in the rest of Europe, it was only here Ford decided to call them the Granada Wink

Nice looking car - the 2.4 V6 version was only sold in the UK for a short while so very rare here. Can't remember the last time I saw one.
As per other replies, your car was sold in the UK as a Mk3 Granada or Granada Scorpio for the top level trim versions.
Only badged as a Granada here in the UK, elsewhere as Scorpio.

Star sign is Scorpio !
Sierra XR4i's are great...especially when fitted with 4WD Smiley

Grin Thank you guys for explanations. So... Undecided technically I don't belong here...do I ?

Never mind my asking, but I had no idea about this different badging.

Yeap, here Smiley.

I was just wondering, I received this quotation from a DE company. Do you find these to be good prices ? I find them exceptionally good compared to the quotations from Ford dealers in Romania.

I finally managed to change the clutch, and also that O ring that seals the oil between the crankshaft and the flywheel (I don't know the word in English). The entire clutch kit to be precise was changed. It cost a small fortune, but it's well worth the money.

Notice how the original Motorcraft clutch worked for almost 300.000 km. And also some new pictures (sorry about the telephone camera quality)
