Savvy.
If it,s just the inner ball joint causing the play you can replace it,usual reason for rack replacement is leaking oil. They are £100 to £150 exchange from motor factors or internet contacts, yours will have a variable pressure device on it which the others don't.

i,m actually getting over missing it now ,but my wife misses the seating comfort.
certainly don,t miss the fuel though.
my new car is the first diesel car i have owned and i,m paranoid about mis-fuelling it,i tend to talk to myself at the pumps saying "diesel, diesel, diesel,"
i,m doing around 55mpg just in urban and it can do over 60 mpg on a run, i can,t believe how much my motoring costs have plumetted

I have found that Neil even though mine is now a 3.2 diesel S Class. Averages 44 on a run which is mpg I could only dream of in the Cosworth even with the LPG

I do miss driving the Scorpio but I can still look out of my office window every morning and see what is left of it on the drive!!

i get 44mpg on a run in my VX, granted it isn't as luxurious as the scorp or indeed an S class, but if i need to save on fuel i can. but that said, i am fortunate enough to have a petrol card from work! it means i effectively pay income tax on what fuel i purchase

I have a fuel card as well and it means that one of my vans fills up an awful lot more than the others!! Grin
