Another Scorp through it's mot!

And a blooming good job too, I'd have been well disappointed if it had failed after all the work I've done on it in the last few weeks Both lower front wishbones replaced, with bushes, steering rack, top suspension mount, rear wheel bearing, welding to the sills & rear chassis rails, front flexi brake pipes and a couple of metal one too. Ah the joys of Scorpio ownership. It went in yesterday to get the cracked non heated front windscreen replaced and despite me mentioning on the phone that it wasn't a heated one, guess what I got fitted? I'll be having a look tomorrow at the wiring on the spares car to see if I can get it working now! My emissions on the the veg oil were rather good too, only 0.27, not bad on a 153k miler old diesel. My tester was well impressed, not to mention slightly hungry by the time I left Cheers Jim

Ah, yes, that one! I dropped the tank and everything was quite clean in there, just some crud around the swirl chamber. There was only a black bulb on the end of the pick up pipe with no filter and it was all clear. I blew back through the fuel lines as well just in case. I think the problem has just been the colder weather gelling my veg oil. I've fitted a heat exchanger which is helping things a bit and I'm putting 10% unleaded in to thin things a bit, might have to increase it a bit more yet though. Cheers Jim

And another What a relief, got my MOT today & not even an advisory. What sort of emissions would you expect on a 2.3? It was well within the permitted limit: Fast idle 2720 CO .03% HC 4ppm Idle 886: CO .09%

Mine was done a few weeks ago - figures for my 2.3 as follows : Fast idle - CO 0.05% / HC 15ppm Normal idle - CO 0.00% Previous years figures were 0.00% CO on both tests and 0ppm HC !

Thanks Mike, I’d of looked up last years but my filing system leaves a little to be desired. Meant to say to you one of your headlights was out when we left the Kent meet – but I guess you know that by now .

Yep, fixed the headlight now - 2nd bulb gone in less than a month I always keep a few spare bulbs in the car.
