My 12valve initially failed on emissions and a steering rack and a tyre down to wear indicators (don't know how I did not spot that! It passed with a new exchange rack, a cat replaced under warranty and a spiffy new Dunlop SP Sport Then took me off to Norwich and back in comfort So one more year then. Also finally solved the intermittent failure to start after a long journey. Roll on Harewood

On occasions the starter was not getting enough power and showed all symptoms of a flat battery, however I noticed that if you left it to cool down then battery voltage increased and car started. Now solved by running separate additional live to Starter motor. Use key to enable ignition and start normally but my Scorpio now has the equivalent of a starter button when it is needed, works like a charm

common fault can be sorted by adding a relay on the way pretty much the same idea as the 'starter button'
