Newbie from Kent

Hi,

My name is Tony and Ive just joined the forum.

I have 2 Scorpios at the moment. The first is a 1997 Ex Essex Police Car that Ive had since 2006 (and returning to Police Spec). Its a 24V Ghia and one of only 4 Battenburg Cars that Essex had. It has engine issues which has resulted in it being tucked away in my garage. My second Scorpio will resolve this problem as its donating its engine/box. The second car is a 1997 24V Estate that is pretty clean and lowish miles so it will provide the perfect heart transplant. Its the quiestest V6 Ive ever heard.

My other cars include a 1987 Moonstone 3dr Cossie, a 1983 Cortina 2.1 GLS and a 2007 Mondeo Ghia X.

Hi Highlander,

I didnt drive the car in service although the pictures were supplied to me from the previous owner who was an Ex Essex Traffic Officer who knew the guys that did drive the car. Ive other pictures of the car in service attending an RTA but cant post them due to the nature of the photos.

The spec is slightly different to a road car. The car was prepared at Ford's SVP (Special Vehicle Preperation) Workshops in Essex and carries SVP stickers on the front panel and suspension legs so I assume that the suspension was uprated. The car also has an additional inertia fuel cut off reset switch mounted in the centre armrest console as I assume a bootfull of traffic cones and stuff could set the boot mounted one off. The car still has the original radio boards mounted behind the rear seat as well as a rear strut brace which was part of the Police spec too.

I will get some more photos up  Smiley

Hi Scorpio_Mike,

Thanks for the welcome. Ill bring the 3dr out provided the meet doesnt clash with my shift pattern. The XR4i 4x4 sounds interesting.

Here are some pictures of the unusual fixtures and fittings on my Police Car:

Overhead console with extra lights and speaker

Special rear lamp pod in bootlid

Calibrated Speedo

Police Spec Front Legs

Ford SVP Special Vehicle Preperation sticker

Ford SVP Workshops in Wethersfield, Essex in late Summer 1997. Note two Battenburg marked Scorpios. Essex Police had 4 in total. 2 P reg, 2 R Reg.

Towbar on my car was fitted within the first 11 months of service.

Those would have been from the earlier P---KAR registration series.

My car was based at Bocking RPU and assigned to patrolling the M11 and A414 areas.
